Distinguished and Famous people from Medowie
🏉 Sam Holbert
Sam Holbert’s rugby story has been unusually consistent: from juniors into senior competition, his club jumper has been Medowie’s. Reporting on his life membership records more than 250 games for the Marauders, alongside service as club president. He also had the opportunity to play with his three brothers, giving the sporting record a strong family dimension. The contribution extends beyond turning up for matches, combining playing, leadership and the work required to keep a community club operating.
🏛️ Kate Washington
Kate Washington’s connection with Medowie is through parliamentary representation and local constituency work. Her public activity has included mobile electorate offices at Medowie Markets and advocacy for a public high school. A 2026 parliamentary notice recorded the school building reaching its highest point and acknowledged the community’s long campaign. The association is therefore tied to a specific local need and the years of effort behind it. Parliamentary careers are often described through ministries and election results; here, school access and opportunities for families provide the more immediate community chapter.
