1. Betty Cuthbert

Betty Cuthbert (1938-2017) was an Australian sprinter and a four-time Olympic champion. She was born in Sydney but spent her childhood in Medowie. Cuthbert is considered one of the greatest athletes in the history of Australian athletics. She won gold medals in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4x100 meters relay events at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Cuthbert later returned to the Olympics in 1964 and won the gold medal in the 400 meters. She remains a revered figure in Australian sports.

2. Greg Bird

Greg Bird is a former professional rugby league player born on February 10, 1984, in Medowie. He played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, Gold Coast Titans, and Catalans Dragons during his career. Bird represented both the New South Wales Blues in State of Origin matches and the Australian national team. He played in multiple positions, including lock, second-row, and five-eighth.
